Introduction to upper cervical and the Blair Technique

There are many ways to approach caring for the spine. Dr. Stone did a lot of research in choosing a technique. She chose to study Blair Upper Cervical because it is based on Dr. Blair’s research of over 3000 spines and is the most precise upper cervical technique that Dr. Stone found. Precise x-rays are taken initially so that there is absolutely no guess-work. Each adjustment is individualized and adjusted according to the precise angle measured on the x-ray. Our patients appreciate this specific care because it takes pressure of the delicate nerves in the upper neck. Over 30 percent of the spinal nerves exit off the upper neck area and control many different functions of the body. The postural muscles of the spine are controlled in the upper neck so patient with scoliosis, forward head posture and other posture related issues respond well to upper cervical care. A specific adjustment in this area is crucial for long term healing and health. Many conditions that patients do not realize are connected to their upper neck respond to aligning the upper neck.

Pediatrics

Dr. Stone suffered from allergies and severe asthma as a child until she was introduced to chiropractic care in her early 20s. Since that time, she did not require any medication for her asthma. This experience with her own health gave her a passion for helping babies and children with their spinal alignment, to allow their bodies to heal and be as healthy as possible. She received her certification in pediatrics and pregnancy adjusting in 2003 through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (www.icpa4kids.org). Learn more about pediatric care.

Pregnancy Adjusting

Women who experience pelvic and lower back pain during pregnancy can benefit  from gentle adjustments shown to help the birthing process and therefore the baby’s alignment as well. Dr. Stone is certified in the Webster Technique, which removes tension in the sacrum and pelvis ligaments, thereby allowing the uterus to have room to expand as the baby grows.

Chiropractic adjustments of the lower back have been shown in case studies to improve fertility and the function of the male and female reproductive organs. The nerves in the lower back supply these organs. Learn more about woman's care.

Common Conditions

There is a growing body of evidence that chiropractic care is effective for many conditions. Chiropractic care is effective because the root cause of a problem is often the nerve that supplies that area. With specific adjustments to remove pressure off of the nerves, the body is able to heal, thereby improving the function of the area or organ supplied by that nerve. Numerous research and case studies are published each year demonstrating the effectiveness of this non-invasive procedure. Learn more about some of the common conditions that we see in our office.
